After a short hiatus of about half a year, it seemed like a pretty good time to have another one of our auto-otaku gatherings. It’s been a rather interesting year for the local automotive enthusiasts with several events held throughout the year, a reason why I was initially hesitant to have another Cars & Kopi meet. Would anyone show up?

Kinja'd!!!

But, with a nice long weekend in sight that had rather good weather predicted, why not? Ladies and Gents, once again, thank you for gracing the meet. Without all of you, it would just be an empty carpark. Welcome to Cars & Kopi Autumn/Winter 2019.

Kinja'd!!!

For those who remembered our last meet back in !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , we managed to get our friends from BMW Asia and Performance Munich Auto to showcase the latest BMW 8 Series. This round, however, there was something I’ve had been wanting to put together for the longest time. No prizes for guessing, I so very much wanted the BMW Z4 and Toyota Supra sisters next to each other. Thanks to our friends from Top Gear Singapore, I got my wish.

Kinja'd!!!

With the Toyota Supra yet to be officially launched in Singapore at the time of the meet (blame local homologation), the kind folks over at Borneo Motors, Singapore’s Toyota dealership, were kind enough to not just bring one Supra, but a pair of Supras ahead of their local launch. It was quite the sight for both enthusiasts and casual observers alike!

Kinja'd!!!

With the Z4 arriving shortly after, we had to put them together. Extra points for both wearing matching coloured outfits!

Kinja'd!!!

Next to the wild curves of the Supra, the Z4 definitely carries a more understated vibe and mature aesthetic.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

I do hope the Supra does well. Not just because I’d like to buy a used one in the future, but because it might be just the car to save the dying Sports-car segment against the relentless SUV onslaught.

Kinja'd!!!

I’d like mine in red as well, please.

Kinja'd!!!

Even with a rather large number of parking lots, it didn’t take long for them to be filled up. Here’s the local SAAB contingent. The last of their kind.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Lovely interior on the 900 Turbo Cabriolet.

Kinja'd!!!

Stunning 993 RS. Looks and sounds better in person.

Kinja'd!!!

Everyone loves a Rad-era 911.

Kinja'd!!!

Peppermint Patty.

Kinja'd!!!

An early GTO/3000GT. In my opinion, the best looking of the lot. The design of this Mitsubishi just got more and fussier as they progressed through the years and the later cars don’t seem to age as well as this. Seems to be getting more recognition now too.

Kinja'd!!!

Beautiful blues.

Kinja'd!!!

Which would you pick for your imaginary garage?

Kinja'd!!!

The Alpina B3 Biturbo Touring?

Kinja'd!!!

Or the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio?

Kinja'd!!!

For me? Wagon all the way.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

With these cars being rather rare here, it was quite amazing that another B3 Biturbo Touring was lurking around. Sat next to a sweet 911 GT3.

Kinja'd!!!

If I had to choose between the Touring of the GT3, I’m afraid I’ll have no choice but to defect to the dark side of the Porsche force.

Kinja'd!!!

More serious German metal.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Wild Prior Design 6er Gran Coupe.

Kinja'd!!!

Stealthy C63 came in rather quietly on its stock exhaust.

Kinja'd!!!

Youngtimer duo.

Kinja'd!!!

Lovely E30 Cabriolet.

Kinja'd!!!

Our perennial favourite, the Z4 M Coupe. The design of this Z4 dates back almost 18 years but I think it has withstood the test of time rather well. Bangle was right all along.

Kinja'd!!!

I don’t normally take pictures of Audis but the fitment on this TT is on point.

Kinja'd!!!

More German heavy metal yet again with this beautiful China Blue Gelandewagen. What’s that curious looking E30 at the back though?

Kinja'd!!!

Check out this square headlamp conversion. Haven’t seen an E30 with these lights since, the 90s?

Kinja'd!!!

All he needs is a set of BBS LMs and he’ll be ready to rock! Great looking example, haven’t seen this one around before.

Kinja'd!!!

Boxy? Or er… Roundie?

Kinja'd!!!

As I was ogling the radness of the square-faced E30, this drove by behind me.

Kinja'd!!!

Fantastic livery.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

For the Swede Wagonist.

Kinja'd!!!

Different takes on stance. You can check out the dropped BMW’s IG !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

JDM legends.

Kinja'd!!!

I don’t think they need any introduction.

Kinja'd!!!

Beautiful works livery on this EVO III.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

As always, there was plenty of EVO action for one morning.

Kinja'd!!!

Would you like your turbo AWD power in wagon form too?

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

This lovely blue example belongs to the curator of Cyber Imp Productions. Here’s his !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

Kinja'd!!!

Of course, we cannot forget Mitsubishi’s rally rivals from Fuji Heavy Industries. Here’s a pair of WRS’s. One slightly more special than the other. Can you guess which?

Kinja'd!!!

Here’s a hint.

Kinja'd!!!

I’m not sure how many made it out of Japan but it’s pretty cool to see one here.

Kinja'd!!!

A rather clean STi.

Kinja'd!!!

Another clean STi, but in Forester guise.

Kinja'd!!!

Wouldn’t this make an exceptional dog hauler? I’d love to have one.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

S-Chassis appreciation.

Kinja'd!!!

This ER34 GTT Sedan had a rather cheeky rear badge.

Kinja'd!!!

It says, “I want to buy a GT-R”.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

This Spoon-ed out S2000 deserves special mention.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

That Spoon hardtop sure makes the S2000 look different. I love it.

Kinja'd!!!

I can only shudder at the thought of how much money went into this S2000.

Kinja'd!!!

Yup. Pretty sure he made the pilgrimage.

Kinja'd!!!

Another Honda S, but this time, an S660. I’ve never seen one of these on the roads before. With the obscene amount of taxes tacked onto new cars here, it must take a real fan to buy one.

Kinja'd!!!

I’m still not too sure about the new 1. That Miata though, lovely.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Here’s another car you won’t see every day. A limited-edition GP. 4-Spoke wheels rule!

Kinja'd!!!

Looks fast!

Kinja'd!!!

Is probably really fast!

Kinja'd!!!

Cars & Kopi mascot. Small cat, meet big cat.

Kinja'd!!!

Here’s another oddity, a Skoda Octavia VRS Combi. In other words, VW GTi in wagon form wearing a Czech dress and German heels.

Kinja'd!!!

It was for sale too.

Kinja'd!!!

<

More oddities!

Kinja'd!!!

Guten Morgen!

Kinja'd!!!

Buongiorno! Ciao!

Kinja'd!!!

Mama mia!

Kinja'd!!!

As for me? I brought the’02 out with a period-correct magazine along for the ride.

Kinja'd!!!

With the morning coming to a close by this point, it was time for me head off to run my weekend errands. Taking pictures is hard work!

Kinja'd!!!

No need to smoke when you drive an old car.

Kinja'd!!!

As this E-type demonstrated, Eau’de gasoline all the way.

That is absurd. Every car is Svended to 100.

Awesome gathering! Some really rare cars there!

I’m curious where these machines ever get driven in anger. Are there any “driving” roads in Singapore or do you cross over to Malaysia or what? Is there a circuit besides the temporary F1 one?

Can you get any of these much further than first gear in Singapore though? I though it was essentially a city state.

“Are there any “driving” roads in Singapore?”

Nope. 10 years ago maybe, but the very few nice backroads we have now either have multiple speed bumps or hoards of cyclists.

No tracks either. :(

Some do head over to Sepang Malaysia though.

For some reasom BMW, Alfa and Volvo are in the same “box” in my mind. Mercedes in a different one. And there is a box just for VAG group brands.

Darn, just  missed it!  I was there for work for a week and searched for this (or any other car gathering) the one Saturday I was staying.  Hopeful to get another work trip in January, anything planned?

Wow, quite the collection there. I’m a sucker for the black SPG Saab vert.
